Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity of Walworth County (HFHWC) was formed in October 1998 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical, non-profit, Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate substandard housing worldwide and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

HFHWC works in partnership with people from all walks of life to develop in Walworth County decent homes and communities in which people can live and grow. Habitat builds new relationships and a sense of community as well as new housing.

Home owners are required to invest "sweat equity" hours into the construction of a home. Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, homes are built or renovated and sold at no profit with no-interest mortgages to partner families. HFHWC follows all local, state and national guidelines and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, age, sex, disability, or familial status.
